The study analyzed a sampling of 394 couples, which had at least one spouse 60 years of age or older. The researchers asked about the couple’s overall life satisfaction using a scale of 1-6, with 5 being considered “Happy.” What the study found was a correlation between the wife’s overall happiness and the husband’s life satisfaction, even when the husband’s assessment of the marriage was less positive.
