According to an article published by the American Psychological Association (APA) there appears to be a causal link between a lack of strong social connections and health risks. The piece went on to say that a study conducted by the Psychological Bulletin indicated that, “People’s personal and friendship networks have shrunk over the past 35 years.” In addition according to Beverly Fehr, a social psychologist from the University of Winnipeg, factors such as high divorce rate and life expectancy has led to “a demographic shift such that there are now more people who don’t have a martial partner to supply the intimacy that (individuals) need.” More information on this article can be found at:
