Ways To Develop A Growth Mindset

8/31/2022

You may have heard of this famous quote from Buddha, “The mind is everything. What you think, you become.”  What does it mean to you? Of course, it hints towards the power of your mind and the thoughts it generates. If your state of mind is fixed, you would find all tasks as mission impossible and keep failing at them. However, with just a change in your thoughts and perception, you can bring about a tremendous change in your life and attaining career goals. How? Let me share those five foolproof strategies that will help you develop a growth mindset:
1. SET A PURPOSEFUL GOAL AND STAY INQUISITIVE
Almost all of us try to set some goals for our growth but then why only a few succeed in attaining them. Why are there only a few people who leave their mark? The difference is that successful people work with a proactive mindset. By this, I mean that they ask themselves why they wish to attain a certain goal and then keep exploring the different ways in which it can be achieved. Not just that, they remain inquisitive about amending and expanding their goals which keep them growing. Thus, you must also adopt this major strategy in order to have a growth mindset.

2. FAILURE IS AN ATTITUDE, NOT AN OUTCOME!
Now see, failing at something is inevitable in life. If you consider failing as equivalent to loss or giving up then you might never become stable. In fact, when you flop at some task, dream etc., it is actually a redirection from nature. Even the nature wants you to have a growth mindset. Remember, you will have to develop this strategy mindfully because a fiasco is not the result or judgment but an attitude which only the fixed mindset can have. In order for you to flourish, keep the fear of failing at bay and nurture the growth mindset by looking at them as opportunities to grow.

3. LOOK AT THE BRIGHTER SIDE
How do you address yourself? What do you tell yourself when things go south? If you consider yourself as insufficient, then you probably are stuck in the fixed mindset. In order to shed this way of thinking, try to think optimistically and never lose hope no matter what! Like I said in the beginning, your thoughts define you so if you tell yourself that you messed up but you can fix things too then you do have a growth mindset. Let me assure you that with this strategy in hand, growth can stay away from you for long.

4. THE POWER OF ‘YET’
This is a very strong strategy and has phenomenal results, if used persistently. For instance, if you tell yourself that you have not been able to reach your target. When you just add the word ‘yet’ every single time you think and speak the motivation level and grit will go way up. Replace “I have not achieved my goal” with “I have not achieved my goal yet!” Look at the difference in the tone of the two sentences. The latter shows how resilient, optimistic and flourishing your mind is! The former, however, is reserved for the people who have a fixed mindset.

5. BELIEVE IN YOURSELF AND CELEBRATE EVERY MILESTONE
Your ‘self’ demands the shedding of old, fixed mindset and wants you to adopt this essential trait of growth mindset. You do not have to give up on yourself or wait for a huge win to celebrate. Be intrinsically motivated and believe in your abilities for if you do not do so, you would not attract victories. Remember, it is the power of mind. You feed it conviction and belief; it will reflect it in your achievements. Pat yourself for achieving even the tiniest wins and keep the faith in your skills. This is a guaranteed way to live with a growth mindset and become invincible.

THE CONCLUSION
Developing a growth mindset is a must if you wish to land among the stars. For this, dare to challenge yourself, unlearn the unhealthy patterns and relearn the tricks that growth mindsets adopt and become matchlessly prominent. When will you start this journey of yours?
